* National Children's Mental Health Awareness Week!
Posted on Monday 2nd May 2011, 10:16am by Jenah Cason
For ten years, the Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health of South Carolina, and our many partners, have celebrated Children's Mental Health Awareness Week the first week of May each year with events and activities. Our goal is to elevate awareness of children’s mental health issues with the hope of eliminating stigma and encouraging early diagnosis and treatment for children and adolescents.

Several years ago, SAMHSA designated the first Tuesday in May as National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day, which has continued. Please join us by participating with us at the Capitol on May 3.

We are working with a number of children's services stakeholders on a Children's Mental Health Awareness Day Rally, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 11:00am at the State Capitol, front steps Main St. side. We would be pleased to have your participation at the Rally as well as helping to spread the information and materials with your staff and families with whom you work. More information is availabe, and added daily regarding Children's Mental Health Awareness Week (CMHAW), May 1-7, 2011 on our website at www.fedfamsc.org under the CMHW tab. The
CMHAW 2011 posters are available at our office, please contact us at 803-772-5210.

Please encourage others to come out in support of Children's Mental Health Awareness. We look forward to your participation!
