Announcing: A new sharedwork.org site

Announcing: At new SharedWork.org site will be launched between August 19 - 23, 2011.

The SharedWork site has been reconfigured to be a more user-friendly. Based on your feedback we added more functions (e.g. WIKI, blogs, video capability) and improved the existing one (e.g., easier way to post documents, navigate the website, link pages, etc.). We hope that the new site will simplify your efforts to build a community of practice. We think that you will love this new technology, but no technology can substitute for the relationships and shared learning  that is the essence of your community.  We need your help to make the technical changes and we need
your active involvement build the habit of sharing and learning that this
technology is meant to support.

The new sharedwork site will be available late August 2011 at www.sharedwork.org . You will be able to access the new sharedwork site with your current username and password.
White House Disability Group Phone Call

The White House hosts monthly phone calls to keep the public informed on various disability issues and to introduce those in the administration who work on these issues.

The next phone call will be Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10:30 am EST.

It will feature Dr. Jill Biden (currently leading the Presidential delegation to the Special Olympics in Athens, Greece), Lynnae Rutledge (Commissioner of the Rehabilitative Services Administration) and Sharon Lewis (Commissioner of the Administration on Developmental Disabilities).

Social Competence Webinar Series beginning May 2nd

OCALI, with funding from the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children (OEC), is pleased to announce a 4-part webinar series for those working and living with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and low incidence disabilities.

This 4-part series will address SOCIAL COMPETENCE. Being able to develop the ability to interact socially can be one of the most challenging aspects of life for individuals with ASD.  This series will share ideas about (a) the assessment of social competence, (b) how to acquire and build social competence, (c) the influence of play and recreation on social interactions, and (d) interventions that can help develop social competence and relationships.

Each webinar in the series will be available for viewing on two dates.
